My name is Shannon Spinner and I am a Spinning enthusiast.
I began Spinning at the beginning of February (2014) and fell in love instantly. Before I knew it, I was taking Spinning classes four to five times a week. On June 7th, I went to Spinning Instructor Training in St. Louis. So much fun! I learned quite a bit! If I'm going to participate in Spinning classes so often, I might as well teach them and spread the passion!
Teaching is something that comes naturally to me. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and spent three years teaching fourth graders before moving home to the Lou. I just completed my Master's in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology. Unfortunately, I left my dream job in Kansas City and have had a hard time finding a full time teaching job in StL. Really it has been a blessing in disguise and I have been able to explore other things over the past year. I have found a passion for Spinning, and thus, have become a Certified Spinning Instructor! In a roundabout way, I'm still teaching!
I married my best friend, Mike, in 2012 and inherited an amazing last name! I hear Spinning/Spinner puns all the time! As I stated in my first blog post, I love every name pun I hear! We have two fur-babies, Thor (black and white, looking less than enthused in this picture) & Titus (white and happy as can be!). I couldn't imagine my life without these men in my life! I hear you feel that way about human children, but I feel that way about my "babies" now. No need to mess with perfection!
I am excited to take on the next chapter in my life as a Spinning Instructor and hope I can inspire someone else's fitness journey. I am still looking to improve myself on a daily basis and by no means am perfect! I am a runner (or claim to be anyway) who runs multiple races a year; including 5ks, half marathons, full marathons, etc. I battle my asthma in order to stay active and work hard. Hopefully, this will inspire others with asthma to work towards their goals. No excuses! This blog will serve as a constant reminder to push myself harder than the day before and to share my experience with other enthusiasts out there. Happy reading!
